The Advanced Certificate in Counselling Skills and Theory Programme has been designed for the wide variety of people who wish to know more about counselling skills or those looking for theory to support their counselling skills. The Certificate is awarded in recognition of proficiency to use therapeutic counselling skills. However, it may not be considered or used as a licence to practice as a counsellor.
No previous experience required, however you should be fairly confident about your ability to read professional literature and to write with a personal voice, and you must have an interest in people and a desire to work with change, growth and development. This is a very practical course with an emphasis on learning through doing, which will give you the opportunity to practise counselling skills. The course will also enable you to develop greater awareness of yourself, others and your interaction with people.

What will I get at the end of the course?
Advanced Certificate in Counselling Skills Theory (Level 3)
When you complete this course you may go on to the Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
There is no British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) programme accreditation scheme for certificate training programmes. The programme is an excellent introductory training for those who wish to know more about counselling and expressive arts counselling. The course offers valuable skills, which can be either for your own personal development or in the workplace and is therefore a very good choice for anyone who wishes to make use of a range of skills to enhance their effectiveness at work.
