The course is one year 3 months in duration, running over 10 weekends


Counselling Supervision is an essential safeguard for clients, a support for counsellors, and a process through which practitioners can develop their skill and competence. A competent Counselling Supervisor should be able to conduct supervision sessions using various supervision interventions, provide effective evaluation and feedback to supervisee’s and addresses the ethical and legal considerations of supervision.


The Course structure is based on the criteria stipulated by BACP for Supervisor Accreditation. Learners will be expected to develop a sense of personal accountability in taking responsibility for their own learning and to participate in the learning of other course members.


Overview

Reflect On Academy Level 7 Diploma in Supervision provides learners with an opportunity to further develop their supervision skills and knowledge acquisition. You will gain knowledge of current models of supervision and develop these skills through a field experience practicum. The course is structured to provide the opportunity to critically evaluate and apply current models in the theory and practice of counselling supervision. You will develop the appropriate skills to become a more effective and informed counselling supervisor and will be able to reflect on current issues that relate to counselling supervision practice.

Teaching methods


A combination of lectures, power point presentation, handouts, seminars, group discussions, DVD presentations, class discussion of research papers, peer review of clinical material, contributions to small (3-4 people) large group discussions (4 or more), working in pairs and suggested reading.


Assessment Methods

Assessment is by written assignments, clinical placement and personal therapy.


Entry Requirements according to BACP

  • A Diploma in counselling or psychotherapy (450 contact hours), and at least one-year post-qualifying experience in counselling or psychotherapy and wish to develop their supervision abilities and practice, and meets the required standards for supervision training (supervision must meet BACP requirements of 1.5 hours per month).Allocation of places will be subject to personal assessment by the Tutors whose decision whether to admit an applicant will be final.

  • Enhanced disclosures via the Criminal Records Bureau
  • Provide evidence of good character and personal attributes via 2 referee reports.
  • Registered member of BACP or UKCP
  • Professional indemnity insurance
